IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN, STUPID!
The Situation in Kosovo

By Des Griffin

Wars are not fought to defeat an enemy. They are fought to create a condition. That basic fact of life was stated by Edwin Stanton, Lincoln's Secretary of War. That is particularly true when we examine the backgrounds of most major conflicts over the last 150 years. Establishment historians — who should, more correctly, be called twistorians — have done a masterful job of concealing the true nature of — and purpose behind — these numerous "wars" or "conflicts."

The gang-rape of Yugoslavia's defenseless Kosovo province by the nineteen-nation NATO coalition — led by the truth-repellant draft dodger in the Oval Office — is no exception. The NATO action which began March 24 — and cost American taxpayers $10,000,000,000 — was "justified" by a sensational propaganda blitz. Our noble chief executive pontificated: "Ending this tragedy [Yugoslavia's civil war] is a moral imperative. It is also important to America's national interests.... Our children need and deserve a peaceful, free, stable, free Europe."

Ah, the children! Clinton makes great and repeated use of "the children." He had earlier told us he wants to regulate the Internet, tighten up gun control, and ban smoking because of "the children." The children, the children. These poor innocents make a marvelous screen behind which to pursue draconian objectives.

(We note with deep regret that Mr. Clinton wasn't too concerned about "the children" when his representatives incinerated seventeen of them — plus dozens of grown up men and women — in the infamous Waco Holocaust of 1994. For documentation, see the startling video, Waco: Rules of Engagement).

VILE, SUBHUMAN MONSTERS

The Serbs, led by Yugoslavia's duly elected President Slobadan Milosevic, were portrayed as vile, subhuman monsters. Day by day, as the aerial assault continued, Clinton and the liberal media painted lurid pictures of the "ethnic cleansing" program allegedly being carried out by the vicious Serbs. As usual, terms were never defined. The historical background of the Yugoslav conflict was basically ignored, and most serious questions left unanswered.

During the eleven weeks it took for the Clinton-led coalition (representing about 500,000,000 people) to bomb Yugoslavia's 10,300,000 defenseless citizens into submission, more explosives were used than on either Germany or Japan during a comparable period in WWII. In the process Clinton's noble New World Order warriors killed an estimated 2,500 innocent civilians, and maimed or severely wounded an additional 10,000. They hit private homes, hospitals, electrical and water facilities, bridges and TV stations.

AN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATION

As Dr. Gordon Ginn points out, "A cursory study of the Balkan area ends with a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness regarding any kind of equitable and even semi-permanent settlement of differences. The reason for this is that the region has long been composed of multi-ethnic and culturally diverse peoples. It is a geographical region comparable to Palestine, which has nearly always been a buffer area between northern and southern historical forces. The Balkan region has been buffeted between East and West for many centuries.

"Because the Jewish-Bolshevik Communists took over Russia in 1917 with the financial backing of the U.S., and because Gen. Mark Clark and his 5th Army in World War II were prevented from liberating the Balkan states, and because Roosevelt, often against Churchill's wishes, sold out to Stalin, the Balkan states ended up in the hands of the U.S.S.R. But Tito rebelled against Stalin and ran his own form of Communist dictatorship. These measures preempted ethnically motivated conflict among the diverse people of the Balkans until 1990 when the Soviet Union went belly up (so we're told)" (Smyrna, May 1999)

YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC

On November 29, 1945, a constituent assembly proclaimed Yugoslavia a Republic made up of six divisions — Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzogovina, Serbia (which included Kosovo), Montenegro, and Macedonia. Though ethnic animosities were deep seated and long standing, Tito's dictatorial regime kept the peace.

With the early 1990s came the alleged collapse of communism. In the absence of a centralized totalitarian government, the whole Balkans area erupted in a frenzy of ethnic strife and violence — with various factions vying for control. Croatia and Slovenia formally declared independence June 25, 1991. In 1995 the Croat Islamic dictator Franjo Tudjman expelled 300,000 Serbs from the Krajina region, killing 14,000 in the process. At that time there was no talk by Clinton of the Croats being guilty of "ethnic cleansing." Likewise, there was no NATO intervention to protect the Serbs.

The Serbs were clearly "the enemy" — the ones singled out by the New World Order for the role of "bad guys" in the Balkans "Theater of War." The script had been written. The various players had been selected. The end result had been determined. The drama was to be executed as dictated by, in the words of the late British prime minister Benjamin Disraeli, "very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes."

On April 17, 1992, the republics of Serbia and Montenegro proclaimed a new "Federal Republic of Yugoslavia." For helping the Serbs in neighboring Bosnia, the UN imposed sweeping international sanctions on Yugoslavia as an alleged means of ending the bloodshed in Bosnia.

KOSOVO "SACRED" TO SERBS

To understand what is happening in the Balkans today, one must realise that Kosovo is "sacred" to the Serbs. It is an area that gives great meaning to their very existence. Serbs take particular pride in the fact that in 1389, in the Battle of Kosovo, their ancestors were largely responsible for stopping the Islamic hordes that threatened to overrun Christian Europe at that time. Following the battle 10,000 Serb Christians were beheaded by their Muslim captors. Though the Serbs lost that famous battle their bravery, tenacity, and fighting ability contributed mightily to Islam's decision not to pursue its grandiose plans for further expansion.

For more than 400 years the Serbs lived under the Turkish yoke. The Serb Christians resisted the merciless Muslims whose hatred of Christ and his followers knew no bounds. The atrocities committed against the Serbs in the name of Allah are indescribable.

In the early 1800s Turkish oppression provoked a number of revolts. In a single campaign in 1815, under the leadership of a herdsman Milosh Obrenovich, the Serbs expelled the enemy except for garrisons in the fortresses. The Turks finally withdrew from Serbia in 1867.

In 1912, the four Balkan States of Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, and Montenegro united against Turkey. Serbia played an important part in the war that ensued. In World War I which erupted in 1914, the Serbs joined the Allies. After losing several battles and sustaining heavy losses, they finally emerged victorious with the aid of France, Britain, Italy, and Greece.

As a result of World War I, Turkey lost its Ottoman Empire and virtually all the clout it had in the Middle East. Although the Islamic cause suffered a major setback as a result of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, it was still heavily represented in the Balkan States. This Islamic "presence" has been a major cause of unrest in the area since that time.

During World War II, the Serbs again sided with the Allies, strongly resisting the Nazi occupation of their country. Seven German divisions were needed to counter Serb resistance. Their Islamic neighbors supported the Nazis.

In this historical context, it is easy to see why Yugoslavia — dominated by Serbs — strenuously resisted efforts by the drug running-Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) to steal Kosovo — their "holyland" — and make it a part of a "Greater [Islamic/ Communist] Albania."

In a recent letter to Midnight Messenger, one Serb supporter posed the question: "Where are the Albanians to go?" His answer: "Right beside Kosovo is the nation of Albania. It is one of the least populated countries in Europe. It is a beautiful country. Albania is a good place for Albanians. That is why they call it Albania."

Incidentally, NATO is presently engaged in the construction of a huge new military facility in Albania. It's a 5-year project designed, presumably, to "keep the peace" in the Balkans — i.e. impose the will of the New World Order.

WHERE DID NATO GET ITS AUTHORITY?

Where did NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) get its authority to attack the sovereign independent nation of Yugoslavia? The aerial assault was clearly an act of naked aggression. There was no international precedent for such action. NATO simply made up its own rules as it went along. This startling fact was admitted by David M. Ackerman, Legislative Attorney, American Law Division in a CRS Report for Congress dated April 28, 1999. Note carefully his conclusion:

"The implications of NATO's intervention in Yugoslavia for international law depend to a large degree on assumptions regarding the correct state of international law. If, for instance, one assumes that the principles of the sovereignty of states over their internal affairs and non-intervention remain absolute pillars of international law, NATO's actions are clearly violative. Similarly, if one assumes that the U.N. Charter has made the use of force by states unlawful except as authorized by the Security Council, or in self-defense against armed attack, NATO's actions, again, appear violative....

"But from a perspective that assumes NATO's actions in Yugoslavia are intended to accord with international law, several different conclusions regarding the international legal implications of those actions may be drawn. Again, from this perspective its actions appear to be consistent with the North Atlantic Treaty as elaborated by the New Strategic Concept [They have changed the rules!]. But its intervention in Yugoslavia clearly asserts the proposition that the principles of non-intervention and the sovereignty of individual states over their own internal affairs are not absolute principles of international law, but are NOW subject to limitation by the international community under certain circumstances. Its actions further suggest that lawful limitations on the principles of non-intervention and the sovereignty of states can be derived from the still-developing doctrine of humanitarian intervention and the customary law of self defence.... From this perspective, in other words, NATO's actions both reflect and shape international law" (Emphasis added).

Put plainly, those controlling the New World Order agenda are — in and through NATO and the United Nations — assuming ever-increasing amounts of power and authority over nations around the world. As was clearly demonstrated in Kosovo, they have no compunctions about enforcing their will through the use of terror.

BRIEF HISTORY OF NATO

NATO was formed in 1949 when the United States, Canada and ten West European nations agreed that an attack on any one of them would be considered an attack on all. Its purpose was to "contain Communism" in the European theater. Revealingly, NATO never attempted to defeat Communism or come to the aid of any nation that opposed it. For example, when Russian tanks stormed into Hungary in 1956 to put down the freedom fighters who were on the verge of overthrowing their Communist slave masters, NATO stood idly by. When the infamous Berlin Wall was built in 1961 NATO did nothing. When the Soviets ruthlessly suppressed a move toward independence in Czechoslovakia in 1966, NATO again looked the other way.

Likewise, since its inception in 1945 the UN has always promoted leftist causes. Worldwide, it has invariably thrown its weight against any move to thwart the Socialist cause.

PUBLIC OPINION MANIPULATED

With these realities in mind, it becomes clear why images of Hitler's Germany and the alleged Holocaust were used to elicit widespread support for the Kosovo operation among the American public. From the outset "public opinion" was ruthlessly manipulated through the use of wild, mostly unsubstantiated "horror" stories. Of course, in war truth is always the first casualty. And in leftist circles, the end always justifies the means.

House intelligence chairman Porter Goss (R-Fl) gives the lie to the Clinton propaganda: "600,000 ethnic Albanians were not 'trapped within Kosovo itself lacking shelter, short of food, afraid to go home or buried in mass graves dug by their executioners' as Clinton told a veterans group in May. Though thousands of Albanians hid in Kosovo, they were healthy.

"Kosovo's livestock, wheat and other crops are growing, not slaughtered wholesale or torched as widely reported...

"There is a credibility question with President Clinton and his administration" (USA Today, July 1).

Why were these lies told by the Clinton Administration and spread by the liberal media? "In order to justify this thing they needed to tap that memory ... of the 'Holocaust,'" says Andrew Bacevich, professor of international relations at Boston University.

MOTIVATION FOR NATO ATTACK?

What was the motivation behind "this thing" in Kosovo? The two main reasons were political and strategic. The Serbs clearly stood in the path of the plans of the NWO. Having transcended many obstacles, persecutions, trials and tribulations over the centuries, the Serbs have been proud of their history and were determined to hold on to their sovereignty. To the New World Order crowd, this was intolerable. This fact was confirmed by Madeleine Albright: "There is no longer room in modern Europe for sovereign, independent states."

Questioned by businesswoman/ journalist Joan Veon at a June 10 press conference in Cologne, the Secretary of State revealed that, under what is called "a Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe," the NATO plan is to "integrate the Balkan peninsula into the Euro-Atlantic community." The difficulty was "how to put this last piece of the puzzle together." German prime minister Gerhard Schroder confirmed: "[W]e want all countries in the area to develop towards European integration as in the Copenhagen Principles.... this is a geographical reality, so it is absolutely important to us." Albright further stated that they want to avoid "the potential chaos of the 21st century (that) exists in terms of ethnic battles and fights over boundaries." Earlier, before the House Committee on International Relations, the Secretary of State testified that, "Today, this region is the critical missing piece in the puzzle of a Europe whole and free." Our "vision of a united Europe ... cannot be fulfilled if this part of the continent remains wracked with violence."

There you have it from the horse's mouth! This overview was confirmed by U.S. Army Major Busyread on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, May 8, 1996: "We are on the cutting edge of the New World Order here in Bosnia [Yugoslavia]." Any other explanation fails to make sense.

Clearly, Serb resistance to the New World Order had to be crushed — at U.S. taxpayer expense! The proud, fiercely independent, patriotic descendants of those Serbs who helped stop the earlier Islamic invasion, had to be pulverized and hammered into submission so that Yugoslavia — with its vast natural resources — could be "urban renewed" and made a vassal state of the New World Order. (The concept of international "urban renewal" is explained and demonstrated in this author's book, Descent Into Slavery?. $14.50 postpaid from Midnight Messenger).

(In reviewing this sordid mess, we should never lose sight of the fact that throughout the "Balkans crisis" the U.S. and Britain (NATO) have sided with our historic enemies — Islam and the Communists — and betrayed our traditional friends, the Serb Christians.)

According to USA Today, our aerial onslaught inflicted at least $29,000, 000,000 damage on Yugoslavia. Most inhabitants have been reduced to a desperate struggle for survival. It is estimated that it will take that nation 40 years to recover.

Now that the infrastructure of Yugoslavia has been devastated, multiple billions of dollars will be needed for reconstruction, or urban renewal projects. That kind of money can only come from one source — international bankers and multi-national corporations. Like similar international urban renewal projects in the past (i.e. Germany and Japan following WWII) assets will be purchased for cents on the dollar. Unnoticed by the vast majority of people, the ownership and control of Yugoslavia will effectively change hands. Remember, whoever writes the checks makes the rules. Control is the name of the game!

Also changing hands are the vast mineral rights of Kosovo. The New York Times estimates that there are over $3,000,000,000,000 (3T) in mines which produce lead, zinc, cadmium, gold, and silver. Coal reserves are estimated at 17,000,000,000 (17B) tons.

Other spoils of the undeclared war are 17 metal treatment plants, freight yards, rail lines and a power plant that supports the whole system.

Not a bad prize for eleven weeks of bombing at other peoples' expense! With that overview, it is easier to understand a statement made 33 years ago by Dr. Carroll Quigley, Bill Clinton's mentor at Georgetown University: The "powers of international capitalism [have] another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system [is] to be controlled in a feudal fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences" (Tragedy and Hope, p.324).

This, friends, is the New World Order!
