Karen and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our readers a “Happy New Year,” and “all the best” for 2008.
As we come to the end of a year that was filled with all types of twists and turns, and enter
with some trepidation – another new year, we all need to take “inventory” as to where we stand individually and collectively. Events tend to zip past us at such a dizzying speed that its almost impossible to keep things in their proper perspective and fully grasp – and rightly assess – what is truly going on all around us.
In the original introduction to this Newsletter, we posed the question: “What is the rarest and most valuable commodity (“thing of use or advantage to mankind”) in the United States today?” That question is probably more important now than it was about a year ago – or at any other time in our nation’s history. In that introduction, I stated that “I have come to my own immovable conclusion. The answer is, TRUTH.” To survive in today’s jungle-like environment, we must all learn (to paraphrase Winston Churchill) to search for the truth, “that now, that always, that to the very end.”
In today’s society, which prides itself on its ultra-sophistication (“adulterated ... fallaciously subtle; fallacious reasoning ... sound in appearance only,” Webster), it is so easy to be unwittingly swept along by the tidal wave of false propaganda, lies, and political hype presented to us as “reality” – and most beneficial for the nation.
We need to be particularly aware of and on guard against programs or agendas designed to hoodwink the American public into going along with policies widely touted as being “necessary” for the “betterment of society” and for the protection of all members of a diverse society. These are all-too-often presented so smoothly, so glowingly, and in such an apparently sincere manner, that they slip by the not-too-alert “early warning systems” of the American public. As a result many are enacted into law with little or no opposition. Thankfully, many such “would be” or “could be” laws are recognized for what they really are, and vigorously opposed by faithful “watchmen” who have dug into the motivation behind such legislation. They have discovered, all too frequently, that the purpose of such laws is in fact to eventually place the population (in complete defiance of the Constitution), in a virtual social straitjacket reminiscent of the “political correctness” practiced in Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, or Communist China.
It is past time for people to begin to ask, Who will protect us from the “protectors”?
“HATE CRIMES”
 After failing for many years to gain major support in either the House or Senate, “Hate Crime” legislation has been a major issue in our nation’s capital in recent months. A few weeks ago, Senators Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Gordon Smith (R-OR) and other leading Democrats – in yet another effort to get “hate laws” passed and enacted into law – attached yet another “hate crimes” amendment to the National Defense Appropriations Act, HR1585, which dealt primarily with the funding of President Bush’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At the last minute, following a massive negative response from knowledgeable and alert “watchmen” and women across the nation – and as a result of the phone banks being “lit up” on Capitol Hill – the “hate crimes” amendment was stripped from the Bill. Yet again, we have succeeded in keeping this draconian legislation out of the law books. But don’t become complacent. We may be assured that many of our alleged “representatives” (who have falsely sworn allegiance to the Constitution – “the supreme Law of the Land,” Article V1) – will continue their efforts to destroy our First Amendment rights to “freedom of religion ... (and) freedom of speech.”
Watch out. Be alert. This issue is not dead. The enemies of the Constitution will be back. Remember, as John Adams declared, “The jaws of power are always open to devour, and her arm is always stretched out, if possible, to destroy the freedom of thinking, speaking and writing.” And, “A Constitution of Government, once changed from freedom, can never return. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” The issue is just that important.
Throughout history freedom has never been free. It has always been won at a price. Once established, it can’t be taken for granted. It can’t be defended by “sunshine patriots” – individuals who make a show of defending freedom and liberty only when it is politically convenience and doesn’t come with a price. Such people talk the talk, but for sure don’t walk the walk. Freedom can only be maintained by people who are alert and active 24/7. As Thomas Jefferson declared, “the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” If not diligently protected, freedom will be lost for ever. It will vanish into the depths of a feudalistic abyss as predicted by Dr. Carroll Quigley (Tragedy and Hope, p.324).
The record shows that for more than 20 years Midnight Messenger has been exposing, condemning, and helping to fight this draconian abomination. Eighteen years ago, May 1989, we ran a front page story, Will Anti-Hate Laws Make You A Lawbreaker?
Recognizing the destructiveness of falsely named “hate crime” legislation, we have, since then, repeatedly helped raise the alarm when numerous moves were made to push such legislation through Congress. These warnings were proven justified by events in those nations in which such laws have been enacted. Horror stories abound in places like Sweden, France, Germany, and Canada. In these countries (reminiscent of horror stories from the Soviet Union and Communist China), individuals have been imprisoned, heavily fined, lost their jobs, or have otherwise been persecuted for alleged “thought crimes.” These “crimes” almost always involve the questioning of politically correct views officially approved by the authorities, and sanctioned by their hidden, behind-the-scenes manipulators and controllers.
 Numerous preachers have been charged with “hate crimes” for quoting the Bible in condemnation of such things as sexual perversion. Others have been guilty of “hate crimes” for quoting scriptural proof that the Jews were responsible for Christ’s crucifixion (John 19:14; Acts 4:10; Acts 5:26-30; Acts 10:38-39; 1 Thessalonians 2:14-15). Such “virulent hate mongers” have been accused of “group libel” and of “causing intense anguish” among those who adhere to Talmudic Judaism. In the above-mentioned countries, their Big Brother “legal systems” have a free hand in probing the “motivational mind set” of those accused of such activities. During a recent trial in Germany, the judge ruled that the truth is no defense when “hate crimes” are involved. Such communist-style “trials,” in which the term “hate” is never really defined, are, of course, a mockery of justice and a sad reflection on the social conditions existing in the countries where they take place. In such sham proceedings the accused, without being given the opportunity to rebut such ludicrous charges, is automatically guilty as charged. The passage of such an abominable piece of legislation in the United States would surely put many more nails in America’s coffin.
Honest, sincere, innocent, and “above-board” individuals should have nothing to fear from facing the truth. As the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), declared, “This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest that they be wrought in God” (John 3:19-21).
As we have stated repeatedly, truth is only “hate” to those who hate the truth!
CAUCUSES AND PRIMARIES
 As you are undoubtedly aware (unless you are comatose), “conservative” presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has unexpectedly “sprung from nowhere” to head the polls leading up to the Iowa caucuses on January 3, and that his poll numbers are “surging” in states like New Hampshire where primaries are being held later in January. As Richard Novak wrote recently, Huckabee has been “getting remarkably warm reviews in the news media as the most humorous, entertaining, and interesting GOP presidential hopeful.”
This type of “good press” is only granted to individuals that the powers-that-be want to promote in order to serve a specific purpose. Could it be that the Establishment is more than a little concerned by the ever-increasing popularity of Ron Paul, the only true Republican and Constitutionalist running for president? Are they, to use the words of the late Randolph Hearst, “puffing” a man whose political record clearly shows is an “establishment player.” As Novak points out, as governor Huckabee “increased the tax burden in Arkansas by 47%” and wanted taxpayers to finance benefits for illegal aliens.” Newsweek commented on “the unlikely rise of a preacher politician” – adding that the role of politician was his “true calling.”
As governor of Arkansas, Huckabee was for granting state services to illegal aliens, and opposed a ban on providing in-state college tuition for them. Huckabee also opposed a measure requiring proof of identity in order to vote. Says Roy Beck, president of the reform group Numbers USA, “He was an absolute disaster on immigration as governor. Every time there was any enforcement in his state, he took the side of the illegal aliens.” As Phyllis Schlafly, head of the conservative Eagle Forum, declared: “He destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas, and left the Republican Party in shambles.”
Revealingly, Huckabee recently stated he could support any other Republican presidential candidate, except Ron Paul. As Chuck Baldwin pointed out in a recent article, “That means that Mike Huckabee would rather support a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-gun control liberal (Giuiliani) than support the pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-second Amendment candidacy of Ron Paul.” Anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear can understand where this political charlatan is really coming from.
Maybe “Hucksterbee” would be a more appropriate name for this former Baptist preacher who is now a presidential wannabee. My dictionary defines a “huckster” as, “A peddler or hawker ... an aggressive merchant ... who uses questionable methods” to push his wares. In the words of Newsweek, “the moralist candidate is having a hard time explaining away alleged ethical lapses.” Huckabee’s dubious record as a politician clearly indicates that he should not be trusted to lead the nation following the catastrophically disastrous administration of George W. Bush.
Yet another reason for supporting Ron Paul’s bid for the Republican nomination.
NEW REVELATIONS
 Ever since the deadly and society-changing events of 9/11/01 we have repeatedly written about the logical implausibility of the government’s “official” story of what really happened on that tragic day. The establishment media has done everything in its power to shore up and defend the “authorized” version. Both they and the politicians in Washington adamantly refuses to address any of the major questions raised by those who have done their homework, and clearly demonstrate the unbelievable nature of what they have been asked to accept as the true story of 9/11.
Many politicians and members of the media in Europe speak openly of their knowledge that high up members of the U.S. intelligence community and Israel’s Mossad were involved in both the planning and execution of the attacks – and the subsequent coverup of the truth. Interviewed by Milan’s largest newspaper, Corriere della Sera (Evening Courier, November 30), former Italian President Francesco Cossiga went public on 9/11. He said it was an “inside job” – the work of the CIA and Mossad and that this was common knowledge amongst intelligence agencies worldwide.
In his home country, Cossiga, 79, gained widespread respect for being a member of a rare breed – an honest politician. His frequent outspokenness annoyed many in the Italian political establishment, and he was forced to resign after revealing the existence of, and his part in setting up, Operation Gladio – a rogue intelligence network under NATO auspices that carried out  bombings across Europe in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s: “[Bin Laden supposedly confessed] to the al Qaeda attack on the twin towers in New York claiming to be the author of the attacks. All the intelligence services of America and Europe now know well that the disastrous attacks had been planned and realized by the American CIA and the Mossad, with the aid of the Zionists world in order to be able to accuse the Arab countries and in order to induce the western world to take part in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.” Earlier, just after the attacks, Cossiga had stated that “the mastermind of the attack must have been a sophisticated mind, provided with ample means not only to recruit fanatic kamikazes, but also highly specialized personnel. I add one thing: it could not have been accomplished without infiltrations in the radar and flight security personnel.”
That, incidentally, was also exactly what Midnight Messenger reported shortly after 9/11. Cossiga is just one of an extremely long list of experts such as military personnel, architects, members of the 9/11 Commission, first responders, family members of victims of 9/11 and others who refuse to accept the grievously flawed and government sponsored 9/11 Report.
Now, more than ever the situation calls for a wide open investigation into every aspect of 9/11, one of the most tragic events in American history. Only those who are guilty of massive crimes against humanity – and obviously have something to hide – will continue to block the formation of such an above-board investigation. Remember, as Jesus said, “every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither
cometh to the light, lest his deed should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be manifest that they are wrought in God” (John 3:19-21).
LIES, LIES, AND MORE LIES
 The vast majority of Americans are paying more than three dollars a gallon for gas at the pump. (It was less than half that price when President George W. Bush took office 7 years ago!) Why? Government propagandists and media pundits bombard us endlessly with grim reports of “shrinking oil supplies”and the “fact” that our meager supplies will soon be exhausted. We are told the world economy risks being plunged into deep recession, as its industrial base grinds to a halt. The “experts” cry in unison that there is an “obvious” need to greatly reduce America’s consumption of oil before the inevitable disaster plunges us into what some envision as a return to the dark ages.
 In this context, we would do well to remember that these are the same experts (or their successors) who have sold the American public an endless array of lies decade after decade after decade. They are thus systematically setting the scene for planned national disintegration and economic collapse. We should never lose sight of the fact that, as H.L. Mencken so famously observed, “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the public alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” It is the assigned job of these fear-mongers to take a multitude of deliberately-created “crises” such as 9/11 and the “energy crisis” – and then manufacture and manipulate “public opinion” so that the American people will eventually “buy” programs specifically designed to “keep the public alarmed and hence clamorous to be led to safety.” Under these conditions, people are much more willing to allow themselves to be strapped into a political strait-jacket from which there is no escape. The unconstitutional, draconian, and gravely mislabeled “Patriot Act” and “Homeland Security” legislation are just two examples. They were both sold to us as being for our long-term safety and protection. So it is with the phony “energy crisis” and “global warming.” We must all “do something” – such as give up our cars in order the “save” the planet.
The simple fact is that there is no “energy crisis.” Never has been. In an earlier Newsletter, I mentioned the fact that, in the 1960-70s, the federal government – through environmental red tape – greatly restricted the development of the huge oil resources on the North Slope in Alaska. As a result the cost of constructing the Alyeska pipeline jumped from $600,000,000 to a dumbfounding $12,000,000,000 – twenty times the original estimate.
The feds then prevented the oil companies from developing another huge, completely new oilfield discovered under Gull Island, Alaska. They also stopped the building of an second oil pipeline, and an additional (third) pipeline to transport the huge amounts of natural gas (which comes out of the ground with the oil) to the lower 48 states.
What happens to the one billion (1,000,000,000) cubic feet of natural gas produced daily? At tremendous expense, and utilizing the combined efforts of forty eight 747-type jet engines operating 24/7, it is pumped back into the ground. It is thus denied to the American people. Why don’t our alleged representatives in Washington permit these vast energy resources to be used to make America energy independent? It should be abundantly clear that the real power brokers in DC (the District of Corruption) have a political agenda that doesn’t include the future well-being of our nation.
Through a former oil company executive, now retired, we have learned that BP (which bought out ARCO in 2000), has since discovered yet another massive oilfield, one even larger than Gull Island. Like Gull Island, that too has been placed off-limits for further development by the feds. Many readers may not realize that, like in Saudi Arabia, the oil and natural gas in Alaska doesn’t need to be pumped out of the ground. It comes out of the ground by what is known as “artesian flow.” That means it is under so much natural pressure that it rises all the way to the surface without being pumped. It must then be capped to control the flow. Even after more than 30 years, the pressure hasn’t diminished.
As if to confirm this fact, Alaska Governor Bob Riley stated on the program Real Time (March 18, 2005) that there is more oil on the North Slope of Alaska alone than in all Saudi Arabia. Alaska alone has enough oil to supply the entire United States for more than 200 years. Incidentally, it costs $5 to get a barrel of oil out of the ground in Saudi Arabia, whereas the costs is only $3 in Alaska.
Remember that TRUTH is the most valuable commodity (“thing of use or advantage to mankind”) that we can possess. Value it above everything else ... AND HAVE A WONDERFUL 2008.
