Greetings from the Pacific Northwest! Over the last couple of weeks we have had daytime temperatures ranging from 92 down to 51. As I write its overcast at noon. The temperature is 51.
As we work our way toward the middle of 2008, Americans are faced with a wide variety of questions. Most are based on misinformation or disinformation, and can easily end up as assumptions upon which they vainly attempt to build their lives. Many of these questions and assumptions are certainly founded on a lack of true knowledge and understanding of the laws and principles upon which America is (or, at least, was) built. In other words, if we ask questions based on false premises (mere “beliefs” rather than facts) we will invariably end asking wrong questions.
One of those assumptions may be the belief that our political leaders (members of Congress, plus the President and Vice-President with minor changes ) are sincere when they, “solemnly swear (or affirm) ... (to) support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; [that they will] bear true faith and allegiance to the same; [that they] take this obligation freely, without mental reservation or purpose of evasion; [and that they will] faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which [they] are about to enter. So help me God.”
Ponder those words. They truly do represent a solemn oath or affirmation. Each of our lawmakers has taken them, allegedly {*** presumably?????]“with true faith and allegiance “ and “without reservation or purpose of evasion.” As no one, in the process of taking the oath, has ever uttered (at least outwardly) any statement of reservation with the wording, there no “wiggle room” as a result of which they can claim immunity for not fulfilling the strict application of their alleged commitment to the Constitution. As they took the “obligation freely ... so help me God,” they each must be held strictly accountable for their actions — or lack thereof — since assuming their various responsibilities.
A MATTER OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Yet how many Americans think in such terms of accountability? How many of us personally examine the actions (as opposed to the frequent flowery statements and claims) of our alleged “representatives” — and then hold them accountable for the outcome of those actions? One in a hundred may not be too far out!
President George W. Bush has been quoted as declaring that the Constitution is “just a goddamned piece of paper” that is of not consequence in today’s world. A wide variety of other stories coming from virtually every point of the compass — from Maine to southern California, and Washington state to Florida — support the belief that the Constitution is not held in very high esteem by most who hold high office in our nation. In fact, evidence points toward the belief that the Constitution is reviled and held in contempt by many who hold high positions in the various branches of government — particularly in “law enforcement.” The fact that the Constitution is “the Supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby”(Constitution, Article V1) seems to have conveniently escaped the attention of many in “law enforcement.”
Recently, this trend toward lawlessness (lack of respect for law and order as embodied in the Constitution, and the laws made “in Pursuance thereof” — Article VI) took an ominous turn. A few weeks on his radio program, talk-show host Alex Jones interviewed a young man who is a student at an East Texas Christian University. As a tour guide at the University, the young man (who, on the air, identified himself only as “Jeff) frequently spoke to visitors about the things he values in life — especially his love and respect for everything truly “American.” That fact apparently wasn’t appreciated by some of the people who took the campus tour.
Jeff, who wishes to remain anonymous for now, is a student at the collage and an interim pastor at a small church in Mount Vernon, Texas. As part of his duties, Jeff was tasked with the role of giving a short talk and a tour to a group of Boy Scouts that was visiting the campus, with a focus on how patriotism and liberty were emphasized in the teaching style of the university. Jeff told the boys, “It’s going to be up to you to take this country and either make it or break it. You need to get back to your Constitution, you need to get back to your Bill of Rights, and you need to stand up for them.”
Paul Watson, a staff member of Jones’ organization, tells what happened next. “The next day Jeff was called into the administrative office of the university where he was met by college officials and two men wearing dark suits and sunglasses who didn’t identify themselves. A state trooper was also guarding the door to make sure that everyone stayed inside the office.
“Jeff was asked by the men if he talked to the Boy Scouts about the Constitution the previous day. Jeff was then shown a transcript of what he said, and asked to fill in the blanks. ‘I saw the transcript of what I said, and every word those boys said,’ stated Jeff. Jeff speculated that the recording of his talk to the Boy Scouts may have been made by a scout master who looked like a Marine that was taking the tour with Jeff.
“After asking the men where they were from [and being refused an answer], Jeff was told he was committing ‘acts of terror and espionage’ by talking to the Boy Scouts about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Jeff was unable to ascertain exactly where the feds were from, but university officials later indicated that the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) and the FBI were involved.
Jeff said the two men told him, ‘If you say anything, do anything, continue to talk about these kind of things, we can have your head on a silver platter and the University’s head on a platter and all the programs they’ve got going.’”
Jeff also revealed on the air that a high college official who was present during the meeting, himself an ex-Marine Vietnam veteran, was extremely nervous and “shaking” as Jeff was being lectured by the two men. “ I went to my room and broke down in tears,”said Jeff after the meeting was over. “That’s it — our country’s gone.”
ARE YOU A “DOMESTIC TERRORIST”?
Is this a harbinger of things to come? There is good reason to believe that it is. For example, the FBI office in Phoenix, Arizona, issued a pamphlet that was distributed to local police. On the front page, the headline declared: If you encounter any of the following, Call the Joint Terrorism Task Force...”
“The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is attempting to identify criminal activities with domestic terrorists. In this regard, the purpose of this information sheet is to assist uniformed patrol officers in identifying potential domestic terrorism. Domestic terrorism is defines as: Groups or individuals operating entirely within the US, attempting to influence the US government or population to effect political or social change by engaging in criminal activity. In the event criminal activity is encountered, contact the individuals named in the brochure for clarification.”
The brochure then advises would-be callers: “Call a member of the Phoenix FBI Joint Terrorism task Force: Investigator Al Shearer, Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. 602-650-3131 Federal Bureau of Investigation, 602-650-3163 Analyst Terry Chapman, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, 602-256-1795.”
What types of “criminal activities”and “potential domestic terror[ist]” activities are the good citizens of Phoenix to be on guard against — and ready to report to the local police? Listed among such “criminals” are the following: “Common law movement proponents ... ‘defenders’ of the US Constitution against federal government and the UN (Super Patriots) ... [people who] “Make numerous reference s to the US Constitution ... [or] Request authority” [“probable cause”] when stopped by police.”
Leading members of both houses of Congress are deathly silent on the subject of such unlawful (unconstitutional) activities. They are clearly betraying their solemn oath of office to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic ... without mental reservation or purpose of evasion ... So help me God.”
Again, ponder those words. They truly do represent a solemn oath or affirmation. Each of our alleged “representatives” has taken that oath, allegedly “with true faith and allegiance “ and “without reservation or purpose of evasion.” As not one Congressman or Senator, in the process of taking the oath, has ever expressed any “reservations,” is it not evident that most have little if any interest in honoring their “solemn oath”?
“WE HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLICES”
Although such an abysmal lack of true respect for the Supreme Law of the Land is a sad reflection on our nation’s leaders, it is par-for-the-course in Washington, DC. This contempt for the Constitution and their oath of office is characteristic of those who hold sway on Capitol Hill.
The ever-deepening fiscal morass in which our nation finds itself is reflective of this lawlessness. Regularly over the years since the abandonment of the rock-solid fiscal principles upon which the Republic was originally built, and the adoption of the humanistic principles of Socialism/Liberalism, some in Washington have spoken out strenuously in opposition to the fiscally insane and nationally-destructive policies of the Welfare State. But to no avail.
Sixteen years ago, May, 1992, Nation’s Business, a publication of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, stated that “the most perceptive analyses of what is wrong ... come not from outside critics but from two of its most respected and influential member, Republican Senators Warren Rudman and John Danforth. Rudman commented that he would not seek a third term because he was terribly frustrated by Congress’ failure to admit to the root of massive budget deficits — financially ruinous but politically popular entitlement programs. ‘We are unable, institutionally, to do what has to be done. We cannot seem to get it together.’”
Three-term Senator Danforth also cited deficit spending as a monumental problem: “ I think that the major cause is that deep down in our hearts we believe we have been accomplices to doing something terrible and unforgivable to this wonderful country. Deep down in our hearts we know we have bankrupted America and that we have given our children a legacy of bankruptcy... [W]e have hurt America quite intentionally. We have hurt America for the purpose of getting ourselves elected. We have told Americans that ... we can reduce taxes and increase benefits.”
Said Senator Rudman: “In what I regret to call a conspiracy of silence among ... few of us are willing to talk about the real problem. Why? Because of the fear that, if we address the issues honestly, we will lose votes and possibly the election.”
Senator Danforth then expressed the hope that “there will be a few of us who will be willing to tell the truth, even if we lose.” In conclusion, he posed a basic question that every member of Congress needs to answer: “If we cannot get re-elected on such a basis, what’s the point of serving?
; As the late Eric Hoffer once observed, “To most of us nothing is so invisible as an unpleasant truth. Though it is held before our eyes, pushed under our noses, rammed down our throats, we know it not.” We each need to ponder this vital question: Are these unpleasant truths “invisible” to us? Though they be pushed under our noses and rammed down our throats, do we still refuse to acknowledge them?
MORE ON THE PHONY “OIL CRISIS’
Multiple millions across America and around the world are suffering from the financial impact of the deliberately created, totally phony “oil crisis” that has caused oil to skyrocket to more than $4 a gallon across the United States (and much more in other nations around the world). The multi-millionaire talking heads on all the TV networks tell us that the price of gas will, like the old TWA ad said, continue to go “up, up, and away.” As we have continually told readers of both this Alert newsletter and Midnight Messenger, this “crisis” is the direct result of corrupt politicians in our nation’s capital working hand-in-hand with oil company executives to greatly restrict the amount of oil available within the borders of the United States. Also to maximize oil company profits while shackling the long-suffering American population with ever-increasing costs and ever-mounting restrictions. With a super abundance of oil reserves in both Alaska and the lower 48 states, the price of gas should be no more than $1.50 a gallon.
As we were in the process of completing this Alert newsletter, we received two reports from totally separate and independent sources as to what to expect in the months ahead. Our first source, an individual with close ties to big oil, believes that the price of crude oil will plummet to about $50 a barrel by the presidential election in November. This source says that at the “appropriate time” an announcement will be made that hitherto unknown massive amounts of “new oil” have been located in Indonesia and Russia, and that this will greatly relieve the “energy crisis.” In this manner, they believe, the Republicans will be made to appear as the “saviors” of the nation thus facilitating the election of yet another “republican” president. They further predict that soon after the election the price will, once again, begin to climb.
The second source, London-based Worldreports.org, states: “A distinguished US commodity broker and trader for years, informs us that he foresees a precipitous drop in the price of crude oil. George Soros, the world’s biggest hedge fund investor, stated on May 25 that the oil price chart as ‘acquired a parabolic characteristic of a bubble.’” When the “bubble” bursts the price will plummet!
George Soros also predicts there will be “major financial fortunes lost” in the coming shakeup.
Even if these predictions come to pass a tremendous amount of damage will already have been sustained by our economic system. The debauching of our currency as a result of Congressional malfeasance and the effects of the phony oil crisis will undoubtedly have a tremendously adverse effect on our standard of living in the months ahead. Talk about a betrayal of public trust!
THE POLITICAL SCENE
As the primary season comes to an end, it appears that Barack Obama has finally managed to “sew up” the Democratic nomination. For more than a month Hillary Clinton and her husband tried every trick in the book to derail the Obama campaign, adamantly refusing to see the proverbial “handwriting on the wall.” The Clintons’ insatiable lust for power was publicly exposed as never before.
There is an additional reason why the Clintons crave power, and pursue it with such fervor. Without it, they will be opened up to numerous criminal charges. For example, in a case now before the California courts, Hollywood internet entrepreneur Peter Paul, Hillary’s largest 2000 donor turned whistle blower, is exposing how the senator and former president conspired to hoodwink a million dollar donor and avoid accountability to the government and the American people. Don’t be surprised if the Clintons now stage a massive campaign to get Hillary on the ticket as Barack Obama’s running mate. As vice president, she would be a heartbeat away from reaching her lustful goal. She would also probably be in a position to quash criminal charges that would otherwise be filed against her. Noting the large number of dead bodies that turned up mysteriously during the years the Clintons governed Arkansas (not to mention one or two of the same in Washington) Obama — if he becomes president — would be well advised to take even greater security precautions than are usually afforded a president.
