The largest group of world leaders ever assembled in one location gathered here for a series of three conventions. In late August and early September some 1000 religious leaders gathered for the Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders. Their get-together was followed by The State of the World Forum 2000, sponsored by the Gorbachev Foundation. Then came the Millennial Summit at the United Nations.
The summit of "religious and spiritual leaders" was sponsored by the United Nations. Among those present were Francis Cardinal Arinze, Russian Orthodox Metropolitan Kirill, Israel's Chief Rabbi Meir Lau, Sheik Ahmad Kuftaro of the Muslim World League, the ubiquitous Rev[olutionary] Jesse Jackson, and Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Billy Graham. Also in attendance were representatives of a wide variety of other pagan religions: Buddhism, Confucianism, Ba'hai, Hinduism, Islam, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, New Age gurus, African witch doctors -- plus a sordid array of other religious flotsam and jetsam.
The "religious" affair, hosted by Bawa Jain from India, was heavily bankrolled by atheist Ted Turner, vice chairman of Time-Warner, and Canadian billionaire Maurice Strong, Chairman of the Earth Council and senior advisor to both the secretary-general of the United Nations and to the president of the World Bank. Addressing the delegates, Ted Turner -- a well-known Christian basher -- once again seized the opportunity to renounce his childhood faith. Turner said he turned away from Christianity when he discovered it was "intolerant because it taught we were the only ones going to heaven."
"Tolerance" was touted endlessly throughout the Summit. Tolerance, that is, for all religions except Christianity. Organizers stressed that all religious groups need to realize that what they believe is part of a greater wisdom and is not unique to them. Jain told Insight magazine: "What we need to engage in is an education factor of the different religious traditions and the different theologies and philosophies and practices. That would give us a better understanding, and then I think [we have to deal with] the claims of absolute truth -- we will recognize there is not just one claim of absolute truth, but there is truth in every tradition. That is happening more and more when you have gatherings such as these." In other words, religious leaders should "go with the flow." Diversity and inclusivism are in, exclusivism is out!
Insight further reports that Episcopal Bishop William Spring, a prominent figure in the interfaith movement, is a top contender for the leadership of the United Religions Initiative. This group is "an anticipated melting pot of religious belief, for which a 1998 draft charter declared that all religions draw their wisdom from one ultimate source. In 1995 Swing said the world is moving toward unity in terms of global economy, global media and global ecological system. What is missing is a global soul."
Students of secret societies will, of course, recognize that this "melting pot" theology is not biblical, but Masonic in origin. As Albert Pike, Sovereign Grand Commander of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction, states in Morals and Dogma: "Masonry, around whose altars the Christian [sic], the Hebrew, the Moslem, the Brahmin, the followers of Confucius and Zoroaster, can assemble as brethren and can unite in prayer to the one God who is above all the Baalim, must needs leave it to each of its initiates to look for the foundation of his faith and hope in the written scriptures of his own religion....
"[H]e could safely rest the hopes that animate him and the principles that guide him on the deductions of reason and the convictions of instinct and consciousness. He can find a sure foundation for his religious belief in these deductions of the intellect and convictions of the heart...." (p.226).
Notice that these "hopes" are based on "deductions of [human] reason ... [and the] intellect and convictions of the heart" -- not on the Word of God. Of course, such "reasoning" comes right from the pit of hell. It is destructive. It encourages people to embrace the Satanic lie that they can be "as god" (Genesis 3:5) -- and thus decide for themselves what is right and what is wrong. This is diabolically anti-Christian. And the "convictions of the heart"? We are told in Jeremiah 17:9 that, naturally speaking, these are "deceitful above all things and desperately wicked."
Why do these people hate the biblical Christ -- the Creator of all things (John 1:1-5) -- so violently? Simple! He, alone, declares that He is "THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). As this is the absolute truth, there can obviously be no other "way" or "truth" worth the time of day. As the Apostle Paul states so clearly, there is only one true God, one true Lord, one true Spirit, one true faith, and one true hope (Ephesians 4:4-6). All other religious beliefs are "dung" when compared to biblical Christianity (Philippians 3:6).
As Ted Turner and his "religious and spiritual" cohorts want to be their own god (and their own final authority), they must explore every possible way to avoid facing reality. Like the "religious and spiritual leaders" of the first century who rejected Christ, they are of their father, the devil (John 8:44).
The opening ceremony at the State of the World [or World State] Forum 2000, held at the plush New York Hilton, featured Iroquois Indians in full regalia. Following a number of native dances, the initiator launched into a long prayer in which she asked her "great mother in the sky" to bless the proceedings that were to follow. In her invocation, she heaped blame on the white settlers who took America from its rightful owners, and -- in their lust for profits -- polluted it for their own selfish ends. She pleaded with her "great mother in the sky" that North America be returned to its natural state. The "prayer" ended with what one British observer termed "a demonic shriek."
This was clearly a continuation of the pagan theme set at the just concluded meeting of "religious and spiritual leaders." The ceremony was pure pagan earth worship -- yet another example of society being led to worship the creation rather than the Creator. This was also done to promote environmentalism, one of the tools being used to destroy American society and bring our national resources under central control. Throughout the seven-day convention -- for which many attendees paid $5,000 -- a wide variety of New Age, eccentric, and occultic groups held seminars. In addition, hundreds of brochures and dozens of booklets on such subjects were stacked on tables lining the reception area. Many plugged the environmental theme and emphasized the "need" for all nations to surrender their sovereignty and come together as one.
The fully documented background for this stampede towards a New World Order (or "global governance") was laid out in Midnight Messenger, issues 88-91. What is unfolding in the early twenty-first century must be viewed in the context of that background. Otherwise it cannot be understood.
For more than 100 years the Luciferian Socialist/Communist movement has been steadily gaining ground worldwide. As documented in such books as Fourth Reich of the Rich and Descent Into Slavery?, both forces -- each financed by the same powerful interests -- have been working toward the same objective: World Government. Behind the scenes, and by every means possible, they have worked hand-in-hand to dismantle the old world order -- thus setting the scene for the accomplishment of their goal. For example, the alleged "cold war" (East vs. West) following World War II was a ploy behind which their demolition crews worked to deadly effect.
In the late 1980s the stage was reached when the Soviet Union (East) could no longer be used as an "enemy" of the Socialized nations of the West. As laid out so clearly by Anatoliy Golitsyn in New Lies For Old (1984) and The Perestroika Deception (completed in 1990, and published in 1994), the new strategy called for Communism to "collapse." In the late 1980s and early 1990s, under a plan devised decades earlier, the Soviet Union began to "disintegrate." The nations of eastern Europe were "democratized," the Berlin Wall came down and Germany was reunited. And some small parts of the Soviet Union (still under the control of Communist Party faithful) were opened up. A massive "peace" initiative was launched to convince the dumbed-down people of the West that their fears of Communism were no longer valid. Communism was officially declared "dead." All according to plan!
The new strategy called for purely cosmetic changes. Old hardliners were phased out. New leaders such as Mikhail Gorbachev came to the fore. "Peace, Peace," was the mantra heard around the world.
Comrade Gorbachev arrived in the United States on December 7, 1987 (Note the date!). As we reported at the time (Another Day of Infamy?, Midnight Messenger, Issue #17), "Gorbachev was treated like royalty. He was wined, dined. regaled, and virtually deified.... Time magazine declared Gorbachev it's 'Man of the Year.'
"On New Year's Day, Mikhail Gorbachev addressed the American people on national television. Coast-to-coast, the Communist leader was featured on prime time as he mouthed pretty platitudes about the need for peace and harmony among the nations of the world."
America's leftist Establishment media were ecstatic, and the American people went back to sleep. The scene was now set for the emergence of the Gorbachev Foundation.
The Gorbachev Foundation (originally named the Tamalpais Foundation) was formed in the Soviet Union. On March 25, 1992, its American subsidiary was registered as a corporate entity by the State of California. Its current headquarters is located at the Presidio overlooking San Francisco Bay.
One of the most important movers and shakers behind the World Forum 2000 was undoubtedly Dr. James Garrison, President of the Gorbachev Foundation, USA. Garrison is a former executive of Esalen Institute, of Big Sur, California, an outfit described by London's Soviet Analyst as "one of the most sinister mind-control organizations in the United States; it specialises in reducing targeted individuals to "the bare essential of the being,' which it achieves by 'stripping a man's values and traditional thinking and responses away from him.'"
According to the New York Times (May 13, 1992), "Dr. Garrison has degrees in religion and international politics from Harvard and Cambridge and has executive experience with the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, the one-time home base of the human potential movement and spawning ground of global stratagems, where he specialized in Russian issues and exchanges."
Garrison is an ardent globalist. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle (November 7, 1997), he stated that the "most fundamental political observation I would make about the world is that history is moving beyond nation states. Networks of people are replacing nations and governments as the locus of energy and imagination and resources."
For many years Garrison has been a major agent of influence behind the scenes on the world political stage. He has toiled tirelessly for the elimination of national sovereignty and for the creation of a one world government. While with Esalen, he served as director of the Soviet-American Exchange Program.
Garrison then formed an alliance with Eduard Shevardnadze, the notorious Communist thug who -- during the 1980s and 90s -- ruled Georgia with a blood-drenched iron fist. "We set up the Foreign Policy Association for Shevardnadze. He set up the Foreign Policy Institute in Moscow. After our trip -- I accompanied him around the United States in May 1991 -- we set up the International Foreign Policy Association dedicated exclusively to working with Shevardnadze's Moscow-based institution. [Later] we set up the Tamalpais Institute, and we did a major conference in San Francisco." This group later emerged as the Gorbachev Foundation.
Who put up the money to finance this operation "dedicated exclusively to working with Shevardnadze's Moscow-based institute"?
Did the Russians contribute money? "Oh no. No. No. No. I gave him a million dollars in May 1992. He used that million dollars to start his Foundation.... Gorbachev was helped by a lot of very powerful people -- Ted Turner [CNN, Time Warner], David Kimball [Pepsico], Duane Andreas [Archer Daniel Midland] and so forth. In no time at all he had a very substantial bank account" (Soviet Analyst, October 2000).
In the West, Gorbachev has been portrayed as "a former Communist." His image, developed over the last fifteen years by the liberal media, is that of an individual who has acknowledged the error of his former ways and who is now dedicated to the cause of world peace.
But how does that "image" stack up with reality? Let's answer that question with Gorbachev's own declarations: "In October 1917, we parted with the old world. We were moving toward a new world, the world of Communism. We shall never turn off that road." Perestroika, he proclaimed, "is a continuation of the October Revolution" (November 1987).
In 1989, Gorbachev stated: "I am a Communist, a convinced Communist. For some that may be a fantasy. But for me it is a main goal." Just months later, the man America's lying liberal media tells us is "the man who ended Communism, declared: "I am now, just as I've always been a convinced Communist."
In his ghost-written book, Perestroika, Gorbachev states: "We're not going to change Soviet power, of course, but we acknowledge the need for changes to strengthen Socialism." To accomplish this goal, programs that created the appearance of "openness" and "change" were developed. This called for him to appear in another guise.
Appearing on Larry King Live, November 6, 1993, Gorbachev was asked if he would return to politics. His answer: "I'm not hiding in the woodwork. I'm involved in a different political role.... I have not abandoned links with the past....
"What we need is a new society, a new civilization, a convergence of all that is best in both [Communism and Capitalism]. Let's not stamp out everything."
At the 1995 Forum, Polish-born Zbigniew Brzezinski, former President Carter's National Security Advisor and a frequent lecturer at Russian universities, explained the purpose behind such "convergence": "We cannot leap into world government through one quick step.... A consensual global system is not just a matter of good wishes and good will, but it requires a process.... [T]he precondition for eventual and genuine globalization is progressive regionalism." The Oxford Universal Dictionary defines "process" as, "The fact of going on or being carried on.... A continuous or regular action or succession of actions, taking place or carried on in a definite manner" -- in this case, toward the creation of a one world government!. What could be clearer?
Comrade Gorbachev's "new political role" -- through his Foundation and through deceitful schemes such as "glasnost" and "perestroika" -- is clearly designed to facilitate that process of globalization.
In his keynote speech at the State of the World Forum 2000, as might be expected, Gorbachev spoke of "the process of globalization" now taking place. But the process needs to be speeded up. "Ten years ago, when we ended the Cold War, there were great expectations.... [but] what we have achieved over the last ten years is a lot less than we expected...."
"We need governance that is adequate to the global world. [We must] develop structures of cooperation between states and the international civil society...."
"We need a structure and an organization that can integrate their different interests. [We need] a culture that will be uniform throughout the world...."
We must strengthen the United Nations. "Unless nations change the rules [give up their sovereignty and surrender to our will?] we will not have global governance."
In his conclusion, Gorbachev made an ominous observation, interpreted by some as a thinly veiled threat: "What happened in Seattle [the riots during the WTO meetings] was no accident.... We can only face that [type of] problem if we change the way things are today...."
"Globalization is an objective process.... Globalization is not predetermined along which lines it will go." The implication being, if it takes military force so be it!
General Colin Powell was another well-known personality who spoke at the Forum. In his 22-minute speech, Powell lauded his "old friend and colleague ... Mr. Gorbachev." He first met Gorbachev during the Soviet leader's Summit meetings with Ronald Reagan. "I found those meetings fascinating ... and we became very close as a result of [our] conversations." In those days, "the world was divided [on military maps] into Red [East] and Blue [West]."
In their conversations, "Mr. Gorbachev emphasized that the world is changing and that I must change with it."
"All that's gone now. The world is a mosaic -- rapidly changing.... It's a different world. We must end these conflicts and wars. We can't waste our resources on weapons we don't need [thunderous applause]. The challenge before us now is to free up the wealth to solve the problems.... The process will go forward. We can't go backward. There is nothing back there [Old World Order] except agony. We must keep going forward...."
In his conclusion, General Schwartzkoph's #2 man in the Gulf War, reverted to a favorite ploy of the one worlders: children. This political card has endless appeal when played properly. We must "get our children ready for the world that is unfolding before our eyes.... We must get rid of old conflicts -- tribal, ethnic, religious. They [independent, sovereign nations] don't make sense any more because you're denying the children the opportunity to take advantage of the information age. All the children of the world must have access to this technology. We must do it for our children. If we get involved there is no problem we can't solve.
"We can make the 21st century the century of greatness."
In his keynote speech at the UN meeting, President Clinton painted a dazzling picture of the "dawn[ing] of a new age in human affairs.... Today there are more people in this room with the power to achieve that goal than have ever been gathered in one place....
"The leaders here assembled can rewrite history in this new millennium. If we have learned the lessons of the past we can leave a different legacy to our children...."
My, how our beloved America has changed in 200 years! And how twisted and perverted our national goals have become of recent date! They have, in fact, been totally reversed. Let's check out some facts.
When, following the War of Independence, the United States emerged from under the control of the British Crown the mindset of the American people was clearly understood. In 1796, it was articulated by President George Washington in his Farewell Address. The outgoing president expressed his heartfelt desire that "heaven may continue to give [the American people] the choicest tokens of its beneficence ... [and] that the free Constitution that is the free work of your hands may be sacredly maintained; that its administration in every department may be stamped with wisdom and virtue." Washington then declared the "apprehension of danger" that prompted him to "offer to your solemn contemplation, and to recommend to your frequent review, some sentiments which are the result of much reflection, of no inconsiderable observation, and which appear to me all important in the permanency of your felicity [joy, bliss, satisfaction] as a people....
"But as it is easy to foresee that from different causes and from different quarters, much pain will be taken, many artifices employed, to weaken in your minds the conviction of this truth; as this is the point of your political fortress against which the batteries of internal and external enemies will be most constantly and actively (though often covertly and insidiously) employed, it is of infinite moment that you should properly estimate the immense value of your national union to your collective and individual happiness....
"The jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful woes for republican government.
"The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is, in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible. As far as we have already formed engagements, let them be fulfilled with perfect good faith. Here let us stop....
"It is our clear policy to steer clear of permanent alliance with any other portion of the world...."
[This fundamental policy, the basis of the Monroe Doctrine (1823), remained in effect until our 1917 entry into World War I].
Especially since the time of FDR, and our entry into World War II, we -- like the ancient Israelites (Ezekiel 16) -- have prostituted ourselves among the nations of the world. As a nation, we have turned our collective backs on the grave warnings issued by our first president -- a man whose tremendous understanding of human nature and whose grasp of history was profound. The results of our folly are becoming evident to all.
Were the great George Washington to hear Bill Clinton -- a man twice sworn to "faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, ... and defend the Constitution of the United States" -- speak about "the dawn[ing] of a new age in human affairs" in which the United States would join forces with political rabble from around the world to "rewrite history in this new millennium" so we "can leave a different legacy to our children" -- he would rightly "turn over in his grave."
George Washington would understand clearly that his "apprehensions of danger" about the "permanency of our felicity as a people" were fully justified. Our "permanent alliances" with other nations and ideologies have, indeed, resulted in the destruction of our "political fortresses."
Truly, in these critical days, Almighty God has -- as a result of our spiritual rebellion -- allowed us to fall into hand of the "basest of men" (Daniel 4:17).
