In just three short years the world will enter another millennium. As the 1900s fade into history, what may we look forward to in the upcoming new millennium? Predictions run the gamut -- ranging from wildly exciting forecasts of a wondrous New Age -- a Utopian dream world -- to grim forecasts that plumb the depths of utter despair. Some people believe the only thing George Orwell got wrong in his novel, 1984 was the date. They see Orwell's political nightmare -- personified in his infamous "Big Brother" government -- looming ominously across the horizon.
NEW AGE PHILOSOPHY?
Probably the fastest growing and most influential movement during the second half of the twentieth century has been that of the new age. In many forms and guised, its power and influence are widespread; unknown to most, its tentacles reach into virtually every aspect of today's society. Its unrecognized influence is felt even in many churches which profess to be Christian.
What is the basic premise embraced by most people who espouse a new age philosophy? As stated by author John Daniel, "The answer is found in astrology, whose adepts teach that there exists a time clock in the night sky called the zodiac. This great turning wheel of twelve constellations makes a complete rotation approximately every 24,000 years. Each of the twelve constellations, therefore, has ascendancy over the skies of the earth for about 2,000 years. According to the ancient Babylonian astrologers, as each new constellation arrives a `new age' is born, accompanied by a catastrophic or otherwise crucial event on the earth.
"Modern mystics of the current New Age movement claim that the crucial event that ushered in the age of Pisces (the Fishes) two thousand years ago was the birth of Jesus Christ. Hence, in the year 2,000, when Pisces succumbs to the ascendancy of Aquarius, we can expect -- according to the New Agers -- that Christianity will cease to exist and mankind will take a `quantum leap' into godhead, the final cycle of evolution." This will be the Age of Aquarius.
THE AGE OF AQUARIUS
Advocates declare that the Age of Aquarius will sweep away all the old, archaic, and horribly restrictive rules and regulations that have held the human race in bondage from time immemorial; humankind will thus be freed from the curse of guilt and fear imposed upon it by Christianity and the Bible. The New Age of Aquarius will exalt the "brotherhood of man," thus allegedly ushering in a millennium of unprecedented peace and prosperity. In this wonderful world of tomorrow, as in the fairy tales of old, every one will allegedly live happily ever after.
Humanly speaking, it is very easy to see how one could be swept up in the euphoria of such utopian dreams; the idea of playing a role in the creation of a new dream world certainly appeals to people's innate desire to be part of something that exalts them above the ordinary. It's a heavy trip!
In the final analysis, however, there is only one problem with such a plan -- it is based on a damnable lie, the same shop-worn and dog-eared old lie that Satan pawned off on Eve in the Garden of Eden ... "Ye shall be as gods" (Genesis 3:5). Yes, the twenty first century New Age dream of creating a New World Order is but a modern version of the same old Satanically-inspired Babylonian dream of "making a name for themselves" by creating a one world government (Genesis 11:4). In their demented vanity, these people really believe they can kick the Eternal Creator God off His throne, push Him out of the way, bury what one of their humanist spokesmen, John Dunphy, calls "the rotting corpse of Christianity," and run the show themselves. Old Babylon or New Age -- the aim's the same!
Make no mistake about it. Modern New Agers have the same attitude as Lucifer (or Satan): "[We] will ascend into heaven. [We] will exalt [our] throne above the stars of God ... [We] will ascend above the heights of the clouds; [We] will be like the most High" (Isaiah 14:13,14).
As the Preacher said, "there is no new thing under the sun. Is there anything whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it has been already of old time...." (Ecclesiastes 1:9,10).
Their diabolical plans failed at the time of Ancient Babylon; they will surely fail again!
THE AGE OF DECEPTION
Despite the monumental technological advances that have been made during the twentieth century, there has not been an accompanying advance in mankind's understanding of his own nature and the trials and tribulations which have beset him from time immemorial. When modern psychiatry and psychology are stripped of all their fanciful hype and grandiose claims -- and examined in depth -- they fail miserably in their alleged purpose of solving mankind's problems. Not only so, they have induced/seduced untold millions into living in a dream world in which people who ask serious questions -- and demand honest answers -- are branded as "nuts" -- and worthy only of contempt!
Having started off from a false premise -- the belief that man is basically an animal who somehow (remember, they don't believe in creation) evolved from slime in a primordial swamp -- there is only one way they can go: down! (A few horribly embarrassing questions: if there is no creation, what was the source of the primordial swamp? Where was it located, and why? And where did the laws come from which resulted in evolution?).
The ridiculous "political correctness" movement is a natural outgrowth of this type of reality-denying idiocy. The vociferous protests of proponents to the contrary not withstanding, the king still has no clothes! As someone has said, shrinks build dream castles in people's minds, and then charge exorbitant rent!
In few places is this insanity more evident and pervasive than in the brain laundries euphemistically known as public schools and colleges. In these institutions, our nation's youth aren't being trained to think objectively, to reason analytically, to weigh historical precedent, and consider the long-term results that their actions will generate. Instead, they are having their plastic, unsuspecting minds stuffed full of inane, mind-warping and morally destructive propaganda that dumbs them down and usually renders them intellectually impotant, andincapable of rational thought and logical deduction. What we have, in effect, is state-sponsored, taxpayer-financed degeneracy.
Though schoolgoers are outwardly encouraged to develop "self-esteem" and a "good self-image," such vague, nebulous concepts are immediately negated by what they are taught in other areas.
Unable, as a result of brainwashing and lack of adequate training, to handle the real world -- the political hype, double-talk, and cons, the lies propagated by political prostitutes, religious con artists, and the mind manipulators of the mass media -- multiple millions have tuned out and turned off.
As a result, no other generation in American history has been less prepared psychologically than ours to cope with the tidal wave of deception now inundating our nation and the world.
